Job Description
The State of New Mexico is hiring an Energy Management Engineer for its Facilities Management Division. This role involves overseeing the state's energy management program, conducting energy audits, facility assessments, and managing energy improvement projects. Candidates should have experience in energy management, smart building technologies, and hold a relevant engineering degree. A New Mexico Driver's License is required, and the position is full-time.
Energy Management Engineer
This position is a key member of the Facilities Management Division (FMD) team, responsible for overseeing the state's energy management program. The Energy Management Engineer will assist division leadership in providing oversight and daily operations to ensure the efficient use of energy in state-owned buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop accurate engineering analysis for the energy management program, including periodic reviews of energy audits and utility consumption bills.
• Conduct facility assessments to determine potential energy measures and savings, proposing implementation of energy-saving fixtures, maintenance modifications, and operational enhancements.
• Review and evaluate energy technologies, conduct on-site inspections, and oversee project management of various energy improvement projects statewide.
• Evaluate, program, and prioritize all energy management services and deployment of energy management technologies in new construction projects and existing building alterations.
Ideal Candidate:
• Experience in large construction or facilities management organizations with comprehensive energy management programs, smart building technologies, and integrated building management systems.
• LEED and Green Building design experience, integrated energy technologies, and programs.
• Developing and maintaining organizational energy usage databases on energy metrics.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an accredited college or university, licensure, and five years of engineering experience, one year as a Licensed Professional Engineer.
• Certified by the NMBLPEPS as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing within six months of hire.
Employment Requirements:
• Valid New Mexico Driver's License.
• Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive certification as a condition of continued employment.
