Job Summary:
Exelon is seeking an experienced Energy Grid Project Manager to oversee complex infrastructure projects in San Francisco, California, potentially related to grid modernization, renewable energy integration, or transmission/distribution upgrades. This role is responsible for the full project lifecycle, from initiation and planning through execution and closure. You will manage budgets, schedules, resources, and stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within scope. This position requires strong project management skills and technical understanding of energy transmission and distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, execution, and closure of energy grid infrastructure projects. Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with engineering, operations, and regulatory teams. Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost control. Identify and manage project risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies. Coordinate and manage project teams, including internal staff and external contractors. Communicate project status, progress, and challenges to stakeholders, including utility management and regulatory bodies. Ensure projects comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and utility policies. Manage contractor and vendor performance. Oversee project documentation and reporting. Ensure smooth transition of completed projects to operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field. Minimum of 7+ years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years in the energy utility sector, specifically on transmission, distribution, or generation projects. Proven track record of successfully managing complex infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of electric transmission and distribution systems. Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project). Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources effectively. PMP certification is highly preferred. Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in the utility industry.
Desired Skills:
Experience with grid modernization technologies (e.g., smart grid, battery storage, EV charging infrastructure). Experience managing renewable energy interconnection projects. Experience working with regulatory agencies in California. Experience with contract management and procurement in large construction projects.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in an office environment in San Francisco, with options for Hybrid remote work. May require travel to project sites (substations, construction sites) in the service territory. Requires managing demanding project timelines and navigating regulatory processes. This position is Hybrid remote.
