Job Description
Willdan is seeking an Energy Engineering Analyst for a Summer Internship in Denver, CO. The role involves learning about mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, improving efficiency, and evaluating energy resources. Candidates should be pursuing a degree in engineering, have an interest in energy sustainability, and be comfortable with remote work. The position emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving, and detailed analysis.
Willdan is a full-service design-build engineering and energy services company. We take comprehensive solutions from design concept to implementation with a collaborative team of engineers, construction managers, and commissioning professionals. We specialize in energy and infrastructure improvement projects through design-build and performance contracting. We work with clients in higher education, K-12 education, healthcare, local government, commercial, and industrial facility markets.
Willdan Performance Engineering, a division of Willdan Group, is seeking an Energy Engineering Analyst for a Summer Internship.
Working With Our Team You Will
• Learn to understand the engineered systems that comprise the built environment: Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, etc. (MEP). Your instruction will be accomplished through facility site audits, mentorship from our team of experts, and your own initiative.
• Identify strategies for improving the efficiency of the MEP systems within a building, evaluating opportunities for distributed energy resources (solar, battery storage, and EV chargers), and exploring facility infrastructure upgrades.
• Mathematically evaluate efficiency measures through spreadsheet analysis and detailed energy modeling.
• Calculate the financial costs and savings from implementing various projects.
• Share any findings through verbal communication and written reports.

• You are someone who has an interest in the mechanical and electrical systems within commercial and institutional facilities. Additionally, you are passionate about crafting a sustainable future for our civilization.
• You seek challenges and can apply innovative approaches to solving problems. Additionally, you are comfortable working in a team-based environment to meet project goals.
• You live in the details and enjoy understanding how systems work at a fundamental level.
• You are self-motivated and have adapted to working/learning remotely using video conferencing and screen sharing communication platforms.
What We Would Love To See
• Exposure to detailed analysis, either through classes, research, personal projects, etc.
• Interest in energy and sustainability industries.
• Working towards a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• A positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite.
• Familiarity with Colorado's initiatives toward energy efficiency, water conservation, and decarbonization.
