Summary:
This role involves ensuring buildings and equipment operate at peak energy efficiency under general supervision. The successful candidate will provide engineering support in the operation of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems as it relates to energy consumption.
Description:
The Energy Engineer I works for the University of Alabama's Energy Management Department, providing engineering support for Facilities and Grounds Operations. Key responsibilities include:
• Providing engineering support for the operation of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems to minimize energy consumption.
• Assisting with energy audits by collecting, tracking, and analyzing utility metering and usage data.
• Developing and implementing energy reduction projects to achieve the university's energy conservation goals.
• Working closely with other departments to provide customer service and support the university's mission.
The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A bachelor's degree in engineering is required, with some engineering experience preferred.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Some engineering experience (preferably in electrical or mechanical engineering).
• Valid U.S. driver's license.
• Able to lift, handle, and maneuver tools, materials, and supplies.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Additional relevant experience or certifications.
