Job Description

ICF is seeking an Energy Engineer for its Energy Efficiency team, focusing on solar interconnection and net energy metering in Mississippi. The role involves reviewing applications for solar and battery projects, providing technical support, and guiding customers on utility incentives. Candidates should have a relevant degree and at least 2 years of experience in solar project analysis. The position is remote with some local travel required.

Location: Flowood, MS (Remote - Home Office with travel within the utility service territory)

We are seeking an Energy Engineer to join our Energy Efficiency team to provide critical program support and technical field services for our Mississippi-based program. The role entails review of interconnection applications for new solar and battery storage projects, including technical analysis, within the utility’s net energy metering program for residential and small commercial customers. The Energy Engineer will also provide guidance to customers and contractors seeking to obtain utility incentives for their projects.

What you will be doing: 
• Provide business processing, analysis of projects’ technical specifications and calculation of engineering metrics, updates to utility databases, and guidance on solar and battery storage net energy metering projects and practices to customers, contractors, and other trade allies participating in the utility-sponsored program. Must be able to effectively communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences and have strong attention to detail. 
• Build and maintain relationships with key market actors in the solar and battery storage industry including architects, engineers, installers/contractors, and customers. 
• Maintain strong ongoing communications with participating service providers and consultants to assess their needs and to receive feedback on their experience with the program. 
• Conduct program trainings as needed for prospective participants. 
• Assess capacity strategies and specifications, as well as make recommendations for improvements. 
• Prepare status reports to accurately describe activities within projects and to monitor progress towards program goals on contractor participation and the completion of eligible projects. 
• Coordinate with or follow up on program Quality Assurance activities such as project inspections and, as appropriate, customer surveys. 
• Must have a reliable vehicle for local travel. Requirements are between 10% to 30% of the time. (reimbursement for mileage provided)

What we need you to have (minimum qualifications): 
• Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Architecture, Energy, Environmental Science, Building Science, Construction Management, Business)(candidates can substitute one year of experience for each year of education)
• 2+ years of related experience with solar project analysis/evaluation

What we would like you to have: 
• 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: 
• Working on successful energy efficiency programs, with specific expertise in energy modeling, energy efficiency technologies and products, and commercial energy issues in both existing buildings and new construction 
• Residential construction industry in Mississippi or experience working with residential and/or commercial solar installations at a utility, public agency, or non-governmental organization 
• Knowledge of applicable construction building codes and practices. 
• Knowledge of IEEE 1547 distributed energy resource interconnection standards 
• Knowledge of energy-efficient, electrification, and/or battery storage applications and technologies

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$66,701.00 - $113,391.00
