Job Description
Seton Hall University is hiring an Energy Engineer to manage the energy management program and operate the automated energy management system. Responsibilities include maintaining mechanical equipment, installing new systems, ensuring safety compliance, and documenting work through an automated system. Candidates should have a high school diploma, relevant experience in HVAC, and knowledge of energy management software. This is a full-time position based in South Orange Village, NJ.
Administers the energy management program and operates the automated energy management system. The supervisor of this position is the lead person of the HVAC Shop.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates the existing CSI/Schneider, Siemens, and ALC energy management software on a PC. Programs, installs, inspects, troubleshoots, and maintains the energy management system (EMS/BMS) and networks (LAN).
Maintains and repairs all types of mechanical equipment on campus, including but not limited to boilers, heat exchangers, air conditioners, chillers, ice machines, cooling towers, kitchen equipment, domestic water heaters, air handlers, distribution boxes, etc.
Installs mechanical equipment in new construction and renovations
Performs all work with adherance to safety procedures. Inspects completed work and ensures that work conforms with requirements of local building and safety codes.
Performs all work through an automated work order system and then documents the hours and materials expended. Reports all deficiencies beyond his/her responsibility on work orders for other trades.
Routinely lifts materials weighing more than 50 pounds. Works off ladders and scaffolds frequently.
Keeps building managers informed of all major jobs, any delays on major tasks, and any shutdown of utilities.
Communicates effectively (both orally and written) with building occupants.
Determines requirements, orders and picks up material and supplies from the warehouse.
Sweeps. vacuums, and cleans up work areas after completion of a job.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma
Local 68 Apprenticeship Graduate or attendee
Minimum of 3 years of experience with commercial or industrial equipment in HVAC
Knowledge of direct digital controls, personal computers, and energy managment software
particularly ALC and CSI/Schneider Sytems and preferably some experience with Siemens. Familiar with current energy management practices and trends.
Ability to follow written/oral instructions and work orders
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematic diagrams.

Proactive maintenance background
NJ Qualified Journeymen Electrical license
New Jersey 1C Blue seal license
NJ HVACR Contractor license
Universal CFC certificate
Attention to detail
Self-starter
Licenses and Certificates:
Valid NJ driver’s license
