Job Description

Environmental Economics Limited is hiring an Energy Consultant in Luton, UK. The role involves taking dimensional take-offs from construction drawings and reviewing site photographs for insulation and building services compliance. Applicants should have HND/degree-level education, strong organizational and communication skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office. Full training is provided, including a Level 3 qualification. The position offers a hybrid work option, 23 days of paid holiday, and a salary of £22,001–£24,500 per year.
The role involves two primary tasks. Firstly, taking dimensional take-offs from construction drawings and inputting data into a proprietary software package (Elmhurst DesignSAP). Secondly reviewing site photographs to check and sign off insulation and building services installed within each property.
Your review of client specification documents and working drawings will lead to a good working knowledge of typical construction techniques and industry working practices.
The successful applicant will enjoy a supportive team environment and full training will be provided. Following the Covid pandemic staff have been successfully working from home and can chose a hybrid working arrangement, with part office and part home working, or work in our office full time.
Full training will be provided, and will include housebuilding systems, domestic heating and ventilation, and building regulations.
Further opportunities within the business include assessment of overheating risk, ventilation, water use, Energy & Sustainability Reports, Life Cycle Carbon, BREEAM and SBEM calculations.

- We accept applications from staff who are based a significant distance from the office (including mainland Europe). In this situation attendance in the office can be adapted to particular circumstances.
- We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with energy modelling experience (using DesignBuilder / IES / TAS / CAD type software).
- No relevant work experience necessary, although experience in an office workplace environment will be a positive asset.

Environmental Economics is a successful energy and sustainability consultancy, with a growing client base. Services include energy assessments, overheating simulations and daylighting analytics of newbuild housing and commercial properties, undertaking reports supporting planning applications, and BREEAM assessments.
