Conservation Legacy is seeking a Sustainable Energy Coordinator for the Energy Communities VISTA project in The Plains, OH. This full-time role involves developing sustainable energy programs for low-income communities transitioning from coal economies. Responsibilities include program development, energy assessments, and community outreach. About the position
The Energy Communities AmeriCorps VISTA project aims to develop and advance programs that enhance environmental awareness, job training, and access to resources for low-income individuals in energy transition communities. As energy opportunities expand, particularly in sustainable energy, this initiative seeks to support communities that are experiencing transformations due to the decline of coal and power facility jobs across the United States. VISTA members will be placed with local organizations to assess environmental impacts, identify existing supports, and develop economic transformation goals with their communities. This position is full-time for one year, beginning in November 2024 and concluding in November 2025. The living allowance for members is $88.39 per day, which translates to approximately $32,262.35 annually. The VISTA will focus on transitioning Appalachian Ohio from an extraction economy to a diverse local system, emphasizing sustainable energy and zero-emission transportation. Responsibilities include program development, project management, and community outreach, specifically aimed at growing the Sustainable Energy Pledge Program and building capacity for clean energy initiatives. Members will assist participants with energy assessments, meet with representatives from low-income communities, and review funding opportunities to support these initiatives. This role is crucial in empowering communities to lower energy costs and create sustainable employment pathways.
Responsibilities
• Plan for and track increased participation in Sustainable Energy initiatives such as the Sustainable Energy Pledge Program, Meigs County Resilience Network, and Tablertown community solar planning.

• Assist participants with energy assessments and implementation plans.

• Meet with representatives of the low-income communities who will benefit from the initiative.

• Review current and upcoming funding opportunities.

• Develop outreach and engagement strategies for clean energy initiatives.
Requirements
• Must have earned an undergraduate degree.

• Strong project management skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community members.
