About the position
As an Energy Auditor I at Franklin Energy, you will play a crucial role in promoting energy efficiency and sustainability within the utility sector. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about helping businesses and communities transition to net-zero carbon economies. You will be responsible for providing expert advice and coordination for energy efficiency programs, working directly with small business tenants, building owners, and other utility customers. Your primary focus will be on conducting energy assessments, recommending modifications to electric and gas systems, and enhancing customer awareness of available rebate programs and energy efficiency initiatives. In this role, you will conduct walk-through energy efficiency assessments, identifying key opportunities for energy savings in various building spaces, including living areas, basements, attics, and exteriors. You will also be responsible for the installation of energy-saving devices such as lighting, programmable thermostats, and hot water-saving devices. Your ability to communicate effectively with clients will be essential, as you will need to clearly explain assessment findings and the benefits of energy efficiency rebates. The Energy Auditor I position requires a comprehensive understanding of energy efficiency strategies and the ability to document and follow up on energy-saving opportunities. You will work collaboratively with engineers and other team members to ensure the successful implementation of energy efficiency measures. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain a professional appearance and build rapport with customers, ensuring high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction. This role may also involve leading presentations to promote energy efficiency programs to targeted groups and conducting inventory counts for energy efficiency products.
Responsibilities
• Promote the energy efficiency program to customers through the completion of scheduled energy assessments
,
• Work with building owners and property managers to provide energy efficiency advice and assistance in participating in energy efficiency programs
,
• Deliver professional, high-quality services to utility customers
,
• Complete walk-through energy assessments of properties that identify key natural gas and electric saving opportunities
,
• Install energy-saving devices including energy efficiency lighting, programmable thermostats, and hot water saving devices
,
• Clearly explain and articulate energy assessment findings to building owners including explanation of energy efficiency rebates
,
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the program's strategic direction regarding energy efficiency and the business activities of its customers
,
• Identify and provide documentation of on-site opportunities for energy efficiency and provide follow-up to customers as required
,
• Discuss technical elements of energy-consuming equipment—i.e., lighting, HVAC, hot water systems, building and pipe insulation, and air sealing
,
• Enter data into spreadsheets and databases to determine energy savings and to manage current projects which may also include collaborating with engineers as required
,
• Maintain professional appearance appropriate for a representative of our organization and the utility
,
• Build quick rapport with customers and initiate conversations regarding energy usage at the facility
,
• Provide written summary reports directly to the customer and summary reports to the client/Program Manager
,
• Work in a team atmosphere and collaborate on continuous improvement of operations
,
• Lead presentations promoting energy efficiency programs for targeted groups
,
• Perform direct installation of faucet aerators and LED lamps and other direct install measures in qualified customer facilities
,
• Conduct inventory counts and submit inventory reports as requested by management
,
• Assure the cleanliness and organization of warehouse locations and fleet vehicle parking areas
,
• Perform routine vehicle safety inspections and submit inspection and maintenance reports to management
Requirements
• Associates degree or equivalent experience
,
• 1 - 2 years of experience in marketing, community organizing, or a related field - Preferred
,
• Strong interpersonal, interviewing, and communication skills
,
• Ability to handle a wide variety of work and work in a fast-paced environment
,
• Strong data entry skills in entering information in tracking systems/databases
,
• Detail-oriented, organized, self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload
,
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
,
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers, clients, and employees
,
• Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios
,
• Reliable transportation
,
• Valid driver's license
Nice-to-haves
• Knowledge of residential building construction
,
• Experience in heating and air conditioning system install, sales, or service
,
• Other energy efficiency designations or certificates including: Advanced Home Energy Professional (HEP), Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, Residential Building Envelope, Whole House Air Leakage Controller Installer, Heating Air Conditioning and Heat Pump, Air sealing and building insulation experience
