Maryland Energy Advisors is seeking an Energy Auditor to conduct ASHRAE Level I and II energy audits for commercial and industrial facilities in Maryland. The role involves gathering technical information for incentive applications, providing recommendations, and performing project inspections. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in energy audits. The position is remote but requires regular travel within Maryland.

Maryland Energy Advisors (MDEA) is a rapidly growing energy management company that serves some of the area’s largest businesses, including real estate owners, restaurants, and manufacturers. We provide consulting services for utilities across the United States, and we are looking for customer and client-centric individuals to join our team.

We are currently seeking an Energy Auditor to serve utility program implementation teams in Maryland. The Energy Auditor will work independently to support technical and non-technical team members. In their role, the Energy Auditor will conduct ASHRAE Level I and Level II Energy Audits to identify project opportunities, gather information needed to support program incentive applications (such as equipment specifications, photos, data trends, etc,.), and will conduct project inspections as needed. The Energy Auditor may also benchmark buildings for clients.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of commercial, institutional, hospitality, or manufacturing facilities and their systems, with some practical experience in reducing a building's carbon footprint. Experience with energy audits, commissioning, and measurement & verification is desired. This position is perfect for someone who is technically inclined, naturally curious, and enjoys being out-and-about meeting with customers. It requires regular travel to job sites within the state of Maryland and the ability to walk throughout facilities, climb stairs, and bend to retrieve system information.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate with team members to determine targeted facilities to receive technical assistance.
• Conduct ASHRAE Level I and Level II energy audits for commercial and industrial facilities.
• Obtain required technical information for incentive applications (equipment nameplates and specifications, photos, data trends, etc.).
• Provide technical recommendations to the implementation team and customers regarding incentive project opportunities.
• Support the development of incentive project applications as needed.
• Facilitate and self-perform inspections for custom projects.
• Conduct benchmarking activities on behalf of commercial and industrial clients.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• BS in Engineering (architectural, mechanical, electrical, or chemical preferred) or other relevant field.
• Strong interpersonal skills and client service orientation. Ability to connect quickly with others and establish rapport.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Self-starter who has the ability to collaborate with team members and work independently.
• Ability to adapt and grow with a growing organization.
• Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
• Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
• Ability to navigate and utilize CRM systems.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Reliable transportation and ability to regularly travel to onsite appointments.
• Ability to walk throughout facilities, climb stairs, and maneuver/bend to retrieve system information.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Certifications – CEA, CMVP, CEM preferred.
• General knowledge of utility incentive programs.
• Subject matter expertise in at least one of the following areas: HVAC, building automation systems, energy management systems, industrial refrigeration, boiler systems, compressed air, pumping and fan systems, and other energy efficiency measures.
• Demonstrated field experience in independently conducting ASHRAE Level I or II energy audits.
• Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) or other formal audit training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
• “Office” work is to be primarily conducted from home, however, travel to onsite locations will be regularly required.
