Job Summary

Engineering & Utilities (E&U) manages Harvard’s energy supplies, district energy plants, utility infrastructures, and provides engineering and technical services across campuses.

This role focuses on energy supply analysis, forecasting, contract management, and developing purchase strategies for electricity, natural gas, fuel oil, renewable energy, and energy attributes like RECs. It involves monitoring rebate programs, advocating for opportunities, and supporting energy supply activities.
Position Responsibilities
• Manage and administer energy supply and attribute contracts.
• Develop models to monitor and forecast energy needs and costs, presenting options to senior management.
• Monitor regulatory and market changes affecting energy costs.
• Maintain inventory of internal energy supplies and analyze their impact.
• Support management of on-site renewable energy production and ensure compliance with RPS and other regulations.
• Provide financial reports, scenario analyses, and budget forecasts.
• Monitor exposure to capacity markets and develop strategies for participation.
• Verify ISO load data accuracy and support reporting systems like Energy Cap.
• Utilize tools related to energy supply, billing, greenhouse gas tracking, etc.
• Participate in market and utility meetings, representing the university.
• Document processes related to data analysis, procurement, billing, forecasting, and contracts.
• Lead or support special projects and initiatives.Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree with 5-10 years of experience in the energy sector, understanding renewable tech and energy markets.
• Knowledge of the New England energy market, utility systems, and experience in an institutional utility environment.
• Leadership and management skills, effective communication, and data analysis expertise.
Additional Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database software, and energy systems tools is required.
Work Conditions

This is an on-campus position in Cambridge, MA, with responsibilities during emergencies as a Critical Operations Personnel.
