BCG Attorney Search is seeking an experienced Energy & Environmental Attorney for its Baltimore, MD office. The role involves advising clients on energy regulations, representing them before agencies, and managing renewable energy project permitting. Candidates should have 8+ years in energy law, knowledge of climate change laws, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment. A Juris Doctor degree and Maryland Bar admission are required.
A law firm seeks an experienced and highly motivated Energy & Environmental Attorney to join its prominent Energy and Environmental Practice Group. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge regulatory matters before key environmental and energy agencies, including the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Maryland Public Service Commission. The ideal candidate will have expertise in climate change law, energy regulation, and renewable energy project permitting, and will thrive in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.

Duties:
• Advise clients on regulatory matters related to energy law, with a focus on Maryland’s climate change policies, including the Climate Solutions Now Act and Building Energy Performance Standards.
• Represent clients in proceedings before the Maryland Department of the Environment and Maryland Public Service Commission.
• Provide counsel on energy-related projects, including permitting for renewable energy projects such as solar.
• Stay current on developments in energy regulation, climate change laws, and sustainable practices to offer strategic guidance to clients.
• Collaborate closely with a team of professionals, often remotely, to develop solutions and deliver high-quality legal services.
• Engage in matters involving brownfields, natural resources, and key environmental statutes such as the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.
• Manage complex regulatory and litigation matters, working independently as well as part of a team.

Requirements:
• 8+ years of experience in energy and environmental law, with significant “first chair” experience.
• Strong knowledge of climate change laws, including Maryland’s Climate Solutions Now Act and Building Energy Performance Standards.
• Experience in energy law, particularly in practice before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) or state utility commissions.
• Experience in permitting for renewable energy projects, such as solar energy.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a remote, multidisciplinary team environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering innovative legal solutions.
• Must be admitted to the Maryland Bar or eligible to waive into the Maryland Bar.

Education:
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:
• Admitted to the Maryland Bar, or eligibility to waive into the Maryland Bar.

Skills:
• In-depth knowledge of energy and environmental regulations.
• Strong research, writing, and legal analysis capabilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex legal projects independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.
• Strong interest in staying ahead of industry trends and legal developments, particularly in the area of climate change and renewable energy.
