Job Description
The Energy Affordability and Climate VISTA position at AmeriCorps involves working with the Hawaii Green Infrastructure Authority to lower energy bills and promote green energy in underserved communities. Responsibilities include outreach for energy literacy, assisting with solar financing programs, and creating media content. This full-time role offers training, a living allowance, and an education award, while requiring collaboration with various organizations in Hawaii.
The Energy Affordability VISTA will work with the Hawaii Green Infrastructure Authority (HGIA) to make a tangible impact lowering energy bills and promoting green energy across Hawaii's underserved communities. This VISTA will assist with agency outreach to encourage energy and financial literacy education, share information about our Solar for All (SFA-HI) program, and assist with our launch of the SFA-HI community and multifamily solar financing programs. This is a unique opportunity to develop skills in environmental communications and sustainable finance while interacting with professionals in the finance, energy, and environmental advocacy sectors.
Member Duties : Provide content and information to Hawaii Green Infrastructure Authority's (HGIA) communications contractor to assist them in creating digital and print media, including videos, infographics, articles, commercials, and slideshows with information about benefits of clean energy, energy and financial literacy, and agency programs. Collaborate with environmental organizations to study positive externalities of clean energy, and promotional intersections with non-energy sectors. Connect HGIA with potential partners like financial institutions, investors, environmental organizations, community groups, and educational institutions.
Collaborations can expand funding sources, reach new audiences, and share knowledge.
