Fervo Energy is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer (Field) in Arkansas to design and implement electrical power systems. This role involves project management tasks such as planning, cost control, and field engineering. Candidates ideally should relocate to Milford, UT, but partial remote work may be available for those within 4 hours of the project site. A Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and 4+ years of relevant experience are required.
Description

The Electrical Power Engineer (Field) will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of electrical power systems. This role will be a key member of our Power Delivery Team, working on diverse projects related to power delivery and systems, including transmission, distribution, substations, and renewable energy integration. Ideally, the Electrical Engineering position will have the ability to relocate to or reside at the project location in Milford, UT. Partial remote work will be considered for highly qualified candidates located withing 4-hours of the project site. The position will report to the Construction Manager.

Requirements

Responsibilities
• Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating & supervision of field activities
• Maintaining records as required regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
• Planning and scheduling of job and/or job segments
• Investigating problems and/or reported incidents; identifying and recommending solutions/alternatives as appropriate
• Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities), pricing of materials, etc.
• Working with suppliers as required facilitating the handling and expediting delivery of materials
• Assist with engineering, financial, and technical analysis for a variety of power-related engineering projects
• Conduct power system planning and operations analysis, including reliability, and economic dispatch
• Ensure assigned projects comply with all applicable company and electrical industry standards and recommendations throughout all phases of the project, e.g. NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, API, NEMA, etc.
• Provide electrical and power technical support on multi-discipline projects
• Provide timely feedback on deliverables / estimates to achieve schedule milestones on assigned projects
• Communicate site preferences and approved manufacturers to engineering contractors on the front-end of each project
• Take ownership of electrical work packages and work directly with the engineering contractor to oversee progress at regular intervals
• Review and approve equipment spec sheets prior to procurement and support the purchasing of equipment and materials
• Support development of company electrical equipment specification, engineering and installation standards

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• 4+ years of experience in electrical power systems design
• Working knowledge of standard electrical engineering techniques, principles, and procedures
• Working knowledge of NESC and NEC in typical capital projects
• Familiarity with electrical analysis programs (ETAP, SKM)
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment, with demonstrated critical thinking skills; Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team-building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced knowledge of electrical power systems design
• Experience with renewable energy integration and coal-fired power plant retirement studies
• Field engineering experience; Project management experience
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations

Location

Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX with growing offices in Oakland, CA, Golden, CO, Salt Lake City, UT and Reno, NV. This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular on-site attendance at the Cape Station construction site in Milford, UT will be required.
