About the Role:
WestRock Container in Cedar Rapids, IA is actively seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Specialist. This role is crucial in supporting our operations as we aim for world-class performance. Please note that candidates must be capable of handling the physical demands of the job, including heat, noise, shift work, and indoor or outdoor tasks, while demonstrating mechanical, numerical, and verbal skills.
Your Impact:
In this role, you will:
• Interpret prints, diagrams, specifications, and instructions for emergency and scheduled repairs.
• Manage demolition, installation, testing, and inspection of electrical systems.
• Install and maintain system components and wiring according to NEC, NESC, NFPA, and UFC standards.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control circuits for motors, PLCs, and various electrical devices.
• Test, inspect, clean, repair, dismantle, adjust, and maintain all AC and DC systems, transformers, switch gear, control panels, and other electrical equipment.
• Contribute to the maintenance team, enhancing equipment reliability and uptime in the pulp and paper manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Minimize machine downtime by completing maintenance promptly and communicating with production supervisors for effective startup.
• Follow work order processes, providing detailed corrective actions and documenting findings during maintenance.
• Develop a broad knowledge of machine operations and take responsibility for the condition of assigned equipment.
• Collaborate with supervisors and management to prioritize work orders regularly.
• Lead equipment strategy discussions and address production-limiting machine issues.
• Coordinate and lead capital projects within the plant.
• Utilize familiarity with fluid power systems, pumps, plumbing, and rigging.
• Employ shop tools safely and effectively.
• Read and interpret machine drawings and electrical schematics.
• Perform welding tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
• Preferred: At least four years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician in industrial maintenance, or two years of experience plus two years of formal education in Electrical or Instrumentation from a certified trade school.
• Basic computer skills are essential.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D is required.
• Must be available to work any shift.
• Successful candidates will pass a multi-phase physical and drug screening.
