Electrical Engineer 1

Strata Clean Energy is seeking an Electrical Engineer I in Durham, NC, responsible for creating technical drawings and specifications for utility-scale solar PV power plants. The role involves ensuring compliance with codes, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, and providing construction support. Candidates should have a BS in Electrical Engineering, proficiency in AutoCAD, and strong communication skills. The position requires both office and field work, with limited travel.
The Electrical Engineer I is responsible for preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and studies of electrical systems for ground mount utility-scale solar PV power plants. Ensuring that design conforms to AHJ codes and/or Owner specifications, and coordinating with other engineering disciplines to ensure design compatibility.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Develop and evaluate electrical system requirements for utility-scale solar PV power plants
• Direct and/or develop electrical layouts using Auto CAD
• Develop electrical studies and calculations using ETAP
• Direct Electrical Designers and Engineers to prepare and revise electrical drawings and calculations
• Provide construction support during the project execution phase

Education And/or Work Experience Requirements
• BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited university
• Engineer-in-Training (or obtainable within 6 months)
• Internship/work experience (desired)
• Proficiency with AutoCAD
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with application of NFPA 70 - National Electric Code (desired)

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Work is performed in the office and in the field. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 20 pounds. May be exposed to weather elements when in the field. Limited out of town travel may be required.
