Job Description

Armstrong Appointments is hiring an Electrical Construction Manager for their Renewable Energy Division in KwaMashu, South Africa. The role involves overseeing electrical construction projects, particularly high voltage infrastructure like substations and overhead lines. Candidates should have relevant qualifications and experience in construction management, project lifecycle management, and compliance with safety standards. This is a full-time, site-based position.
Duties & Responsibilities

Main job function

Our Renewable Energy Division is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the successful delivery of electrical construction projects across South Africa.

The role requires strong experience in high voltage electrical infrastructure, including substations, overhead lines and reticulation networks, ensuring projects are constructed safely, on time and within budget.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (advantageous) or Qualified Electrician with experience
• Construction Management qualification or certification (advantageous)
• Registration with the SACPCMP as Pr CM or in process of being registered

Criteria
• Manage the construction lifecycle of electrical infrastructure projects from planning through to handover
• Oversee construction activities relating to high voltage substations, overhead transmission lines, and reticulation networks, including the process to achieve Grid Code Compliance
• Coordinate project teams, contractors and suppliers to ensure successful project construction
• Ensure projects comply with engineering specifications, regulatory standards and safety requirements
• Manage project schedules, budgets and resources
• Knowledge of CCS will be an advantage
• Monitor project progress and report on milestones and performance.
• Identify and mitigate project risks
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) standards
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, engineers, contractors and clients
• Economic Development management abilities
• Full-time site-based roll with end of month R&R cycle
