Job Description

Navistar International is seeking an Electric Vehicle Interoperability Technician responsible for testing interoperability between Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment and vehicles. About the position

The Electric Vehicle Interoperability Technician at Navistar, Inc. is responsible for testing the interoperability between Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSEs) and medium to heavy-duty vehicles. This role involves significant travel and is part of the Zero Emissions Commercial function, focusing on ensuring effective communication and functionality between electric vehicles and charging systems.

Responsibilities
• Perform charging interoperability testing with vehicles in lab & field settings.

• Troubleshoot interoperability charging communication issues, primarily on DC fast chargers.
,
• Document test results.
,
• Collect & analyze PLC charging communication & vehicle CAN data.
,
• Understand SAE and ISO standards & develop test cases for interoperability testing.
,
• Update Vehicles with Hardware and/or Software and perform tests to ensure successful updates.
,
• Collaborate with headquarter counterpart teams on system functionality & maintain targets & testing/validation milestones.
,
• Work independently and meet deadlines.
,
• Ensure Charging System (components and software) operation by monitoring logs and communications between ECUs.
,
• Participate in charging interoperability testing symposiums (e.g., CharIN & ACT test events).
,
• Collaborate with industry across CPOs, EVSE Manufacturers, & OEMs.
,
• Collect feedback & develop interoperability technical requirements for US specific system/feature implementation.
,
• Participate in technical working groups across different locations and units in the US to align priorities and coordinate efforts.
,
• Provide feedback to the internal Navistar teams to improve the customer experience.
,
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
,
• At least 5 years of service operations, technical service engineering, automotive or truck service or automotive component experience OR a Master's degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience OR at least 7 years of relevant experience.

• Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves
• ASE certifications or technical degree

• At least 2 years of automotive testing or related experience

• Understanding of basic principles and operation of EV & EV charging systems

• Knowledge of vehicle diagnostic and analysis tools such as CAN/CANalyzer and Vector tools
,
• Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Teams
,
• Experience working with customers and vendors in a professional manner

• Ability to present technical issues in a non-complex way
,
• Creative problem-solving skills

• Electric Vehicle knowledge

• Experience working with interoperability between vehicle and charger
