Job Description

Reporting to the Safety Programs Manager, the EHSS Technician supports environmental health and safety programs.

Key Responsibilities
• Support the development, implementation, review and evaluation of environmental health, safety and sustainability programs, plans and procedures
• Draft professional reports with findings and corrective actions
• Utilize continuous improvement principles in all EHSS responsibilities
• Cultivate a positive culture of safety by role modeling safe behavior and a demonstrated commitment to safety
• Respond to off-hours emergencies
• Support operations in Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability by assisting with special projects, recordkeeping, training and marketing
• Assists with hazardous waste removals
• Conducts inspections
• Assists with instrument calibration
• Conduct regular assessments of worksite environments to identify potential safety hazards

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, a minimum six years combined education, training, and experience may be considered)
• Successful candidates must be able to wear an air-purifying respirator, lift 50 pounds, transport drums weighing 450 pounds using a drum hand truck and have a valid driver's license.
• Position requires after-hours emergency responses.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in environmental health and safety
• Experience in a college or university setting

Additional Information

Salary will be between $50,000 - $55,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
