Alstom is seeking an EHS Technician/Safety Compliance Officer in Whitby, ON. The role involves ensuring compliance with EHS regulations, conducting audits, providing coaching, and supporting EHS initiatives. Candidates should have EHS experience, knowledge of MS Office, and strong communication skills. A high school diploma is required. Purpose of the job:

Ensure REOs’ compliance with EHS regulations and customer requirements, as well as, support the EHS Function to establish & monitor EHS plan to prevent accidents/incidents and environmental damages on the project.

Key accountabilities:

Audits :
• Perform Regular Efficiency Audits on REO’s safety performance working through a rotation schedule of Day, Afternoon, and Night shifts
• Recommend corrective actions to be taken in the event of audit failures
• Follow up on recommended corrective actions and ensure compliance
• Provide coaching to REOs
• Perform practical REO testing and participate in REO class training

EHS Initiatives
• Take part in regular EHS safety stand downs
• Regularly participate in departments’ safety briefings and provide support and follow up if needed

EHS Duties
• Safety walk-arounds
• Provide support with workplace inspections, Safety Observations cards, and risk assessments
• Provide support to EHS as needed

Competencies & Skills
• Mandatory knowledge of MS Word, MS excel, and Outlook
• Presentation skills
• Details oriented, organization & time management
• Written and Oral communication abilities

Experience
• EHS experience / minimum 1 years
• REO experience (3 years) would be an asset

Mandatory:

High school degree or an equivalent
