Job Purpose
The EHS & Sustainability Manager creates strategies, provides corporate governance and implements the company’s global environmental, health and safety program as well as the company’s sustainability program in order to ensure compliance and competitive positioning. This includes employee safety, site compliance, product stewardship and other compliance areas. Working with local leadership across the operation sites, develops and implements programs to maintain, improve and drive organizational sustainability and ESG initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop corporate Sustainability strategies, goals and a robust suite of ESG programme
• Advice Divisions and operating units regions and its leadership teams on ESG matters
• Plan and deliver programs to train managers and employees in sustainability practices and track improvements.
• To establish an effective water/waste reduction program across the organisation sites
• To generate a mechanism for environment performance review and establish active dashboard
• To strengthen environmental protection measures and drive the ESG program for organisation as a subject matter expert.
• Map out Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions (Scope-1, 2 and 3), water consumption and waste footprint baseline for Syngene operations and track.
• Manage EHSS sustainability as per GRI and SASB framework
• Drive materiality assessment and improvement plans
• Effectively manage Syngene’s SBTi commitments (Science based targets initiative) .
• Advice and track to develop strategies for green supply chain management. Manage Scope-3 deliverables in line with SBTi.
• SME for Green Chemistry movement across operations
• SME for Corporate oversight on EHSS sustainability requirements (BRSR/ESG report governance):
• SME to manage ESG third party Assurance audits
• EHSS Liability reserves and conduct acquisition/divesture assessments
• Drive Sustainability of the organisation in line with International sustainability framework
• EHS SME for all sustainability disclosures and reportings
Educational Qualification
• Degree/ Master degree in Science/Engineering (Chemical /Environmental)
• Knowledge and experience of managing sustainability (in line with ISO 14000 series). Understanding of Occupational laws (e.g., OSHA) and safety practices
• Good understanding of ESG (Environment and Social governance, carbon footprints, SBTi-Science based targets initiative, organizational sustainability reporting in CDP, Ecovadis, DJSI etc, Carbon Neutrality, BRSR and ESG reporting’s)
Technical/functional Skills
• EHS and sustainability Management
• Compliance (regulatory and internal)
• IT literate, with the ability to use the full Microsoft Office package
• Knowledge of current Health and Safety practice within Pharma sector
• Need strong analytical and detail orientation skill
• Good networking skill
• Leadership skills to lead materiality assessment reporting
Experience
8+ years’ experience in sustainability management preferably Pharma, Biopharma, (R&D, API's and Formulations), Chemical & fertilizers, petroleum or Paint & adhesives sectors or from a reputed consulting firm
