Legrand, North America is seeking an EHS Specialist for its Data Center Power & Control Division in Canonsburg, PA. This role focuses on maintaining EHS compliance with regulations, managing safety programs, conducting audits, and leading safety initiatives. Candidates should have a relevant bachelor's degree, EHS experience, and strong communication skills. The position involves working weekend shifts and requires adherence to safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
Position Description
At a Glance
Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an EHS Specialist to join the Data Center Power & Control Division in Canonsburg, PA. This position is available due to continued growth at our largest US facility and would be to cover the weekend shift.
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist will assist in the continual improvement and maintenance of a comprehensive EHS program.
What Will You Do?
• Under the leadership of the EHS manager, the EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring that Starline’s Canonsburg facility complies with all state, federal, DEP, and OSHA regulations regarding health and safety.
• Maintain an existing Job Safety Analysis (JSA) program, Emergency Action Plan, Legal Register, and Risk Management System.
• Ensure emergency response plans are in proper working conditions and lead competency drills.
• Conduct activities related to environmental compliance, reporting, regulatory permitting, hazardous waste handling, and waste reduction/recycling programs.
• Oversee maintenance of all safety records including the SDS database and GHS program implementation.
• Monitor trends related to employee work-related injuries.
• Ensure compliance of the on-site wastewater treatment plant.
• Ensure all company vehicles are within Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance.
• Conduct monthly safety committee meetings, reporting safety metrics, and departmental safety audits.
• Demonstrate high standards of conduct and integrity.
• Additional duties as required by management.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field, safety, environmental sciences.
• Alternative an engineering degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
• 3+ years experience in an EHS role (preferred).
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams with diverse backgrounds and skill sets.
• Ability to host and present safety topics to large groups.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of ISO-14001:2015 and ISO-45001:2018 Management Systems required.
• Strong documentation skills with revision control.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to train and certify forklift operators by OSHA requirements.
Personal Qualities/Behaviors
• This position will have exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required.
• Ability to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
• Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.
• Primary working hours will be a weekend shift; flexible on structure.
