Job Description
Howmet Aerospace is seeking an EHS Manager with an environmental focus in Los Angeles, CA. The role involves developing and overseeing Environmental, Health & Safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, conducting audits, and promoting sustainability initiatives. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 5+ years of EHS experience, and strong project management skills. Experience in manufacturing or industrial settings is preferred.
Responsibilities
Position Overview:
The EHS BU Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's Environmental, Health & Safety programs and compliance strategies. This role ensures that the company meets both internal standards and external regulatory parameters, as well as promote prevention and sustainability initiatives across
Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with country, regional, and local (state, and federal) regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA).
• Develop and maintain Environmental (waste management, water usage, air quality, and chemical handling), Health (exposure monitoring and controls) & Safety (risk assessment and mitigations) policies, procedures, and programs
• Conduct investigations, inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
• Actively participate in formulating new initiatives, best practices and driving sustainable change.
• Serve as the primary liaison for various EHS corporate councils and / or governing agencies to keep apprised of both company and regulatory requirements
• Lead the development and execution of Business Unit and corporate initiatives
• Monitor and drive performance metrics and prepare detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Environmental, Health & Safety environmental considerations into business operations and decision-making, especially related to environmental matters, such as the management of permits, records, and documentation.
• Train and develop new and existing EHS talent
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in EHS related discipline, Environmental Sciences, or a related field (Master's preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in EHS applied function, including environmental compliance, sustainability, or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of both Safety and Environmental regulations and standards.
• Experience conducting audits and managing regulatory reporting.
• Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, ISO 14001, CHMM, CES,..) are a plus.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or corporate settings.
• Familiarity with Incident Management Systems, compliance calendar, environmental management systems (EMS) and sustainability reporting frameworks.
• Ability to analyze data and develop actionable insights.
