The City of Lethbridge seeks an Education and Outreach Lead for the Waste & Environment department. This permanent role involves leadership, program creation, and delivery, focusing on public service and team development. Candidates should have post-secondary education in relevant fields, 10 years of experience, and skills in budgeting, project management, and educational program delivery. The position requires excellent relationship-building and problem-solving abilities.
The City of Lethbridge is looking for an innovative, enthusiastic people leader to join us in the permanent role of Education & Outreach Lead. This role provides leadership and program creation and delivery to the Waste & Environment department as well as the Infrastructure Services Division. We are looking for a results-oriented team leader who is committed to providing exemplary public service. Reporting to the General Manager of Waste and Environment, this position is responsible for leading, creating and directing the Education & Outreach programming, and associate support staff, within Waste & Environment department and will also include the departments within the Infrastructure Services Division. The Education & Outreach Lead provides leadership, direction and guidance to their team. You will maintain an environment that encourages individual commitment, growth and teamwork. This will include establishing performance measures and coaching and mentoring staff to build capacity and ensuring accurate monitoring and recording for data-based decision making, program based budgeting and performance management. We are looking for candidates with the following preferred qualifications: Post-Secondary education in Education, Science, or Environmental Studies, with a minimum of 10 years of experience and knowledge of creating science-based curriculum and reaching the public. (Other combinations of relevant education and experience may also be considered). Experience that includes minimum 5 years leading a team of employees Financial budgeting for the functions that are within oversight. A minimum of 5 years of experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and performance measures related to public sector. Project management skills and experience is preferred. Experience in curriculum building, creating and delivering educational programs, and understanding the different methods of learning to deliver a message Oversee and deliver educational programs at the Blue Sky Center, including keeping current displays, and landfill tours for school groups. This will also include climate and conservation educational programs and the potential additional programming. Create and deliver educational programs and community based social marketing behavioral change programs for infrastructure services department including: waste & environment, water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, transit, and electric. Experience in developing delivery programs, implementing new programs and managing changing behaviour. Ability to develop long-term plans and programs and to make sound professional decisions and recommendations on matters of public policy and on complex administrative and technical problems. Collaborate with teams and departments, excellent relationship building skills and political acumen. Proactive analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to foster a collaborative team environment that promotes individual growth and development.
