Under supervision of the CEQA Policy Program Manager, the Economics & Ecosystems Policy Specialist primarily provides technical analysis and guidance to support implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Judicial Streamlining Program, which combines SB 7 Environmental Leadership Development Project and SB 149 Infrastructure Streamlining Program. The program assists the Governor in determining if statutory criteria are met, enabling expedited court procedures for certified projects.
The role involves guiding applicants on project labor and economic requirements, reviewing application materials, and advising on statutory compliance, including greenhouse gas reduction and impacts on disadvantaged communities. The specialist may also assist with regulatory measures, rulemaking, feasibility studies, and cost-effectiveness analyses.
This position supports state goals such as climate change mitigation, infill development, transportation efficiency, housing affordability, economic prosperity, climate resilience, and social equity.
Working Conditions Persons appointed must be able to lift objects up to 10 lbs, sit most of the time, with occasional brief movement. Up to 5% overnight travel may be required.
