Job Description
This internship will be part of the Interpretation team at Canyonlands National Park, working 60% on visitor services and interpretation. The intern will work at the front desk of a busy visitor center, providing resource information and park orientation, as well as roving trails and providing Leave No Trace, stewardship, and safety information to visitors. The intern will develop and present formal interpretive programs within the park, focusing on park ecology, cultural history, geology, and dark skies. Additional informal programming will be presented by the intern at various locations around the park.

Responsibilities
• Free Summer Lunch Program: Work with the city of Moab to develop and present short educational programs to kids in low-income neighborhoods. Spanish language fluency is highly valuable.
• Youth Garden Project: Create ecology and astronomy lessons for the Youth Garden's Summer Camp, serving 1st-6th graders.
• Southeast Utah AstroFest: Assist rangers at community events promoting the value of light pollution-free night skies and the AstroFest event. Facilitate crowd management during the 3-day event at Canyonlands, Arches, and local state parks. Potential for Spanish language night sky interpretation.

The Public Land Corps Non-Competitive Hiring Authority is a special hiring authority available to qualifying interns. Upon successful completion of the PLC project(s), the intern is eligible for two years to be hired non-competitively into a federal seasonal, term, or permanent position.
