Description
We're looking for an Ecologist/Environmental Scientist to join the HMB team!

HMB Professional Engineers, LLC is seeking an Ecologist/Environmental Scientist with a background in endangered species surveys, stream assessments, and wetland delineation to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct habitat walkover surveys for endangered species.
• Perform bat surveys using mist nets, acoustic detectors, and harp traps in accordance with the US Fish and Wildlife Rangewide Guidance.
• Conduct fish surveys using electrofishing equipment and dip nets using approved US Fish and Wildlife survey methods.
• Perform mussel survey using snorkeling techniques and view-buckets.
• Complete stream assessments using the Rapid Bioassessment Protocol (RBP) forms.
• Conduct wetland delineations following the 1987 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Manual and applicable Regional Supplements (preferably Eastern Mountains and Piedmont Regional and Atlantic & Gulf Coastal Plain).
• Utilize with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Field Maps, and ArcGIS Online for data collection and analysis.
• Prepare accurate, professional, and cost-effective reports and environmental studies.
• Stay current on policies, regulations, and methodologies required for ecological surveys and reports.
• Willing and able to travel and stay overnight as needed to complete project tasks.
• Pursue ongoing training and technological tools to support project development and meet client standards.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field.
• USFWS collecting permit for threatened and endangered bats in Kentucky, or the qualifications to be added to the company’s federal permit.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate a 4-wheel-drive vehicle.
• Up to date rabies pre-exposure vaccinations or willingness to obtain them.
• Physical ability to carry 40+ pounds and traverse challenging terrain.
