The National Park Service is hiring a Seasonal Ecologist in Fairbanks, AK, for mid-May to mid-November 2025. The role involves vegetation sampling, data management using software, plant identification, and report writing. This temporary position may not exceed 1039 hours in a service year and offers a salary of $33.11–$43.04 per hour. No degree is required for this role.
JOB SUMMARY: The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Yukon-Charley Rivers and Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve is mid-May to mid-November but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2025. These positions are temporary and may not exceed 1039 hours (six months) in a service year. MAJOR DUTIES: Conducts vegetation sampling (e.g., vascular plants, lichens, and mosses) in remote wilderness areas. Manages and analyzes data using spreadsheets, databases, statistical and GIS software. Identifies vascular plants, lichens, and mosses using technical keys and laboratory tests.
