Job Description
LaBella Associates is hiring an Ecological Restoration Technician for their Rochester office in Buffalo, NY. The role involves invasive species management, habitat rehabilitation, and restoration services. Candidates should have a background in natural sciences, a valid NY driver’s license, and the ability to operate various equipment. The position offers an hourly wage of $18-$20, benefits including health insurance, and a flexible work schedule.
LaBella is currently seeking an Environmental Restoration Technician for our Environmental Division in our Rochester office. Starting compensation for this hourly, non-exempt position is $18-$20 per hour with potential overtime opportunities during peak seasonal times. As part of our Ecological Construction and Restoration Program you will be part of a growing team providing invasive species management, habitat rehabilitation and wetland and stream restoration services for private and public sector clients.
Duties
• Invasive species identification and control through herbicide application and/or physical removal
• Native seeding
• Native plantings
• Installation of erosion and sediment control features, and riverbank and riparian restoration.
• Based on applicant’s experience the performance of these tasks may include operation of tools and equipment such as chain saws, brush saws, herbicide sprayers, trucks and trailers, and skid loaders.
Requirements
• Bachelors or Associates Degree in natural sciences (e.g., ecology, geography, biology, etc.) is preferred but not required.
• New York State Driver's License
• Construction experience
• Ability to drive large trucks, tow trailers, operate small to heavy equipment
• Ability to identify invasive plant species common to western and central New York
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to walk all day over rough terrain
• Ability to travel regularly
• Willingness to obtain a New York State pesticide applicator license
Salary Range: $18 - $20 per hour
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
