Position Overview

We are hiring a Lead Restoration Technician to manage and perform hands-on ecological restoration work throughout the region. You’ll supervise seasonal crews, carry out vegetation management, monitor restoration progress, and help ensure long-term site health.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong plant ID skills, leadership experience, and a passion for native ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and maintain native restoration sites (shorelines, prairies, wetlands, woodlands)
• Implement invasive species control and vegetation management strategies
• Safely operate field equipment (chainsaws, brush cutters, sprayers, ATVs)
• Apply herbicides in compliance with environmental and safety standards
• Supervise and mentor intern field crews
• Track project progress and assist with record-keeping
• Communicate with clients and represent the company professionally
• Assist with nursery tasks, seed collection, and public outreach as needed

Qualifications
• 2+ years of field experience in natural resources or ecological restoration
• Proficient in native and invasive plant identification (Minnesota species preferred)
• Able to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs. and working in heat, cold, or around biting insects
• Excellent communication and team leadership skills
• Valid Minnesota Driver’s License; ability to haul trailers and equipment
• Herbicide application experience preferred
• Must obtain MN Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (Categories A & J) within 30 days of hire
