Job Description

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is seeking an experienced Ecological Consultant for their Cardiff-based team. The role involves fieldwork, consultancy, and project coordination in terrestrial ecology. Candidates should have relevant experience, a degree in Ecology or Environmental Science, strong fieldwork skills, and a willingness to travel. The company offers professional development, a supportive culture, and a competitive benefits package, including 25 days of annual leave and healthcare plans.
Ocean to Earth Recruitment is proud to partner with one of the UK’s most innovative and fast-growing environmental consultancies to find an experienced and driven Ecologist to join their Cardiff-based terrestrial ecology team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently working as an Ecologist or a confident Assistant Ecologist ready to take the next step in their career. If you’re seeking a role where no two days are the same and where your passion for nature can truly make an impact, this could be the perfect move.

About the Role

You'll be joining a dynamic, supportive team of environmental professionals committed to enabling nature and business to thrive together. The role involves a mix of fieldwork and consultancy, so a flexible approach to travel and occasional overnight stays (especially during peak season) is essential.

This role offers genuine variety – from hands-on ecological surveying and report writing to client liaison and project coordination. You’ll work on meaningful projects across a wide range of services, including terrestrial ecology, habitat management, arboriculture, and environmental assessments.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who brings not just technical knowledge, but enthusiasm and a collaborative spirit. The ideal candidate will have:
• Previous experience in a similar ecological consultancy role
• A relevant degree (Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field)
• Strong fieldwork skills in at least one specialist area
• Experience in project coordination and ecological survey management
• Excellent report writing and communication skills
• Working knowledge of UK ecology legislation and best practice
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
• CIEEM membership
• A positive, proactive attitude and a desire to develop professionally

Desirable (but not essential):
• Protected species licences (e.g. bats, GCN, dormouse)

Please note: You must have the right to work in the UK and be based here.

Why Join?

This consultancy places people at the heart of their success. Their values – Respect, Integrity, Support, and Excellence – shape a culture where team members are empowered to grow and supported in every step of their journey. They invest in professional development through accredited training, mentoring, and opportunities to work across multiple service areas.

You'll enjoy a rewarding package that includes:
• 25 days annual leave
• Healthcare cash plan
• Enhanced pension scheme
• Life insurance
• Paid professional memberships
• Clothing allowance
• Bonus and reward schemes
• Free parking
• Social events and wellbeing initiatives
• Gym membership discounts
• Long service awards

Inclusion & Diversity

Our client is an equal opportunities employer. They are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce where every team member is respected and valued for their unique perspectives and contributions.
