Job Purpose:

The Director of Sustainable Transportation Planning and Mobility leads strategic planning and implementation of programs that support campus mobility, reduce congestion, and promote sustainable travel. This role oversees all Transportation Demand Management (TDM) and transportation planning efforts across Stanford properties, including commute programs and projects that support circulation. The Director ensures Stanford remains a leader in TDM while aligning transportation planning with the university's mission.

Responsibilities include strategic planning, budget oversight, and collaboration with internal teams, the campus community, and external agency partners. This position reports to the Executive Director, Stanford Transportation. Core

Duties *:

In coordination with Stanford Transportation and Land, Building, and Real Estate staff, the Director will conduct planning, analysis and research efforts, that support an award winning TDM program. This effort includes and is not limited to:

Direct the Sustainable Transportation Planning and Mobility team and oversee resources, including managing the TDM programs such as vanpools, transit subsidies, bike program, and commuter benefits.

Ensure that TDM program outreach efforts are well managed, regularly assessed for accuracy and value, and provide purpose to targeted affiliates. This includes new employee transportation outreach, marketing campaigns, commute planning assistance, and TDM program inquiries. Foster strong customer relationships, continually improving interactions and customer experience, by investigating and responding to any complaints or concerns and implementing recommended changes. Keep abreast of technology developments which improve efficiency and expand capabilities.

Conduct analysis and projections of future transportation infrastructure, program and service needs. Serve on planning teams for new and renovated campus facilities, road and major events.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad variety of public and private agencies providing transportation services as well as agencies and officials involved in local and regional transportation planning efforts. Represent the university transportation system to other university partners, leadership, students and the adjacent communities.

Establish and maintain institutional policy required to implement the transportation program or ensure compliance with other university policy or outside regulation and

new data sets required and develop methodology for collection and use. Coordinate with the university's land use and campus planning teams on transportation related issues and data needs. Prepare reports and official documents in support of Stanford Transportation objectives and priorities, ensuring inclusion of perspectives of internal and external constituencies and other affected parties.

Monitor monthly projected spending, manage, and report any anomalies. Develop budgets for new initiatives as requested by leadership. Work with data analysis to perform spending projections on incentive programs, vanpools and other TDM programs.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and eight years' equivalent experience or combination of education and relevant experience. A master's degree with 15 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Have a strong background in TDM and transportation planning, including transit, parking, bicycle, pedestrian, and vehicle mobility.
