Charter Next Generation seeks a Director of Sustainability & Regulatory in Evanston, IL. This hybrid role requires 3 days in-office and focuses on corporate sustainability strategies, regulatory compliance, and product sustainability. Responsibilities include reducing emissions, waste management, and overseeing compliance with environmental regulations. As a Director of Sustainability & Regulatory your responsibilities will be:

Corporate Sustainability Develop and execute strategies to reduce Scope 1 & 2 emissions cost-effectively, focusing on energy efficiency, solar energy, and green power

Create and implement plans to minimize Scope 3 emissions, emphasizing purchased materials, recycled materials, and low-carbon material strategies

Devise strategies to report and reduce waste to landfill, water emissions, and biodiversity impact

Stay informed on emerging sustainability policies and advocate for the company's interests through trade organizations. Oversee the development of the annual sustainability report, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations and compliance standards. Lead corporate sustainability compliance efforts, including audits and certifications. Represent the company as a thought leader at sustainability-focused conferences and events. Product Sustainability Partner with Marketing and Strategy leadership to guide the team in driving growth and profitability within the sustainable product portfolio.

Develop strategies for sustainable product pillars, shaping product family roadmaps, development priorities, and future investments. Oversee compliance efforts related to product sustainability certifications, audits, and reporting. Act as a sustainability expert in engagements with customers and external stakeholders, promoting the company's leadership in sustainable practices. Regulatory Develop and implement regulatory strategies to ensure materials and processes comply with domestic and international regulations (e.g., FDA, EU, environmental guidelines).

Monitor emerging regulations and advise leadership on compliance impacts.

Ensure product documentation and supply chain practices align with regulatory standards and

alignment between regulatory compliance and sustainability initiatives, including carbon accounting and Scope 3 emissions reporting

Partner with R&D, marketing, supply chain, and sustainability teams to integrate regulatory requirements into material design, production, and lifecycle management.

Lead preparation and submission of regulatory documentation for product approvals, certifications, and permits.

Represent the company as required in industry associations and regulatory discussions.

A strong Director of Sustainability & Regulatory will possess:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Formal education in sustainability is a strong asset.

Experience:

At least 15 years of experience in technical, sustainability, or related fields, with a proven track record of leadership in sustainability initiatives. Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term vision and short-term execution. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with expertise in environmental metrics and reporting. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, capable of influencing internal and external stakeholders. Strong knowledge of global environmental standards and frameworks (e.g., UNSDGs, SASB, TCFD) Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and advocate for favorable policies.

Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders Passion for sustainability and driving positive environmental change. Safety at CNG:
