Job Description
Calgon Carbon Corporation is seeking a Director of Sustainability to oversee and enhance the company's environmental impact. This full-time position, based in Moon Township, PA, involves identifying inefficiencies, managing sustainability projects, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The role includes preparing reports, proposals, and managing sustainability risk assessments. Position: Director - Sustainability
Location: Headquarters – Moon Township, PA

Hours of work: Full-time position with hours Monday-Friday; 9:00-5:00
The Director of Sustainability oversees and facilitates an organization’s internal and external environmental impact. The Director of Sustainability will identify inefficiencies in processes as well as non-ecofriendly practices and replace them with green practices while maintaining or increasing efficiency. The Director of Sustainability is responsible for facilitating critical practices in a company, in line with Business and Corporate goals, helping to guide them through three key transformative stages in the world of sustainability: environmental, social, and economic.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
• Drafts and prepares reports, presentations, and proposals; presents proposals and recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team, Kuraray, and other key stakeholders
• Prepares documentation required and justification for project funding for various environmental initiatives including proposals and grant applications
• Align proposals for sustainability projects with factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and integration with other initiatives
• Manages the completion of the company Ecovadis reporting
• Oversees the Kuraray CO2 efforts for the company
• Completes all reactivation biomass calculations. Identifies and oversees sustainability efforts within manufacturing, logistics, procurement and Human Resources to improve upon our sustainability records and metrics
• Evaluates efficacy of sustainability programs; recommends and implements improvements as necessary
• Considers sustainability proposals with attention to factors such as cost effectiveness, feasibility, and ease of integration with other programs
• Manage corporate sustainability risk assessments
• Maintains current working knowledge of, and ensures compliance with, all applicable local, state, federal, and internal environmental laws and regulations
• Ensure sustainability program processes and operations compliance with environmental, governmental, and industrial regulations
• Proposes and implements strategies to address various environmental concerns including energy use, conservation, reduction of pollution, recycling (including supersack recycling at available locations), building and facility design, and general education on sustainability
• Assesses and analyzes company policies and processes to identify areas in and processes to which improvements can be made in accordance with the organization’s commitment to sustainability
• Drafts and implements sustainable organizational policies that address environmental concerns
• Conducts research to identify environmental and sustainability concerns, interests, and issues
• Work with business units, Regions, and Kuraray regarding customer sustainability requirements
• Develop and implement strategies to address the environmental, social, and economic elements of the Corporate Sustainability program
• Maintain oversight of plant sustainability objectives
• Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), or equivalent from four-year college or university is required (Environmental Scientist or Engineer; Sustainability Engineering; Environmental Health Sciences; or related field)
• A Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent is preferred
• Professional sustainability certifications (LEED or other accreditation, etc.) are preferred
• 10+ years of corporate, business or management experience is required
• 10+ years of Environmental, Health, Safety or Sustainability experience is required
• Experience in the Activated Carbon industry is preferred
