Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced, creative, and motivated leader in sustainability to forge new business pathways and manage a talented team. In this role, you will collaborate with industry experts to oversee the technical delivery of Building Physics and Sustainability outputs on diverse projects, including sustainable design, carbon reduction, and engineering initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include managing and delivering sustainable, low-energy design projects and working closely with clients to enhance their sustainability performance through a structured and cooperative approach. A key aspect of this role is fostering the growth of our Sustainability practice, providing strategic direction, and leading business development to support the Sustainability function as an integral part of our service offerings.

The role is based in the UK and aims to secure opportunities across Europe, the Middle East, Canada, and the Americas. Collaboration will extend to experts in Australasia, Hong Kong, and the UAE, each leading their own sustainability teams.

The Inhabit Europe team specializes in design solutions focusing on environmental assessment certification, energy and carbon management, whole life carbon assessment, building physics, and environmental engineering, which includes daylight, sunlight, wind analysis, air quality, water conservation, flood risk management, and sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS). You will provide leadership across all these areas, delivering exceptional services across various sectors and international contexts.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the Sustainability Team in providing consultancy services for sustainability assessment and design within the built environment industry.
• Conduct calculations, utilize computer modeling, and prepare detailed consultancy reports, proposals, or presentations.
• Manage projects while maintaining senior stakeholder relationships.
• Drive business development initiatives for the Sustainability Team through engagement with new and existing clients.
• Support business growth through bid support, client interactions, and the promotion of Inhabit services.
• Formulate strategies to enhance and develop our Sustainability business offering.
• Mentor junior staff members to support their professional growth and career advancement.

Qualifications
• A degree in engineering or sciences related to green building, civil and environmental engineering, sustainability, building services, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in sustainability consultancy and green building assessments.
• Prior experience with projects in the Middle East is highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE standards 90.1 or 90.2.
• Proficiency in developing Carbon Reduction strategies.
• Experience in estimating costs for Part O, Part L, and embodied carbon assessments.
• Understanding of sustainability frameworks such as NABERS, BREEAM, LEED, TM65, etc.
• Established knowledge of building physics concepts, encompassing thermal bridging, air movement, wind, solar behavior, etc.
