Meranti Green Steel is seeking a Director of Sustainability to lead environmental strategies in New Delhi, India. The role involves ensuring compliance with ISO certifications and integrating sustainability practices across operations. Key responsibilities include managing carbon footprint models, collaborating on GHG monitoring, and aligning with global sustainability frameworks. Candidates should have over 10 years of experience in sustainability management, preferably in heavy manufacturing, and must reside in Bangkok or Singapore.

Position Summary
As the Director of Sustainability, you will drive the implementation of environmental strategies across plant design, construction, and operations. You will ensure compliance with relevant ISO certifications (14064, 14067, 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001) and align practices with major frameworks, including the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and ResponsibleSteel.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sustainability Leadership
• Develop and manage the HRC lifecycle carbon footprint model, ensuring adherence to ISO 14067 and supporting the green steel premium strategy.
• Quantify Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions throughout raw material sourcing, production, and logistics.
• Integrate ISSB, GRI, and ResponsibleSteel criteria into policies and organizational systems.
2. ISO Compliance and Integration
• Translate ISO 14064 and 14067 requirements into actionable plans for plant design, engineering, and daily operations.
• Collaborate with Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) teams to embed GHG monitoring systems and lifecycle assessment tools.
• Develop real-time emissions tracking and reporting platforms.
• Conduct mock audits and gap analyses to ensure readiness for ISO certifications.
• Oversee broader ISO standards compliance (9001, 14001, 45001, 50001).
3. Alignment with Broader Sustainability Frameworks
• Coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders to fulfil ISSB, GRI, and ResponsibleSteel requirements.
• Guide climate-related financial disclosures and sustainability reporting to meet global standards.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with engineering, procurement, HSE, finance, strategy, and IT teams to incorporate sustainability goals into all stages of the plant lifecycle.
• Serve as the primary liaison with certification bodies, consultants, and relevant industry organizations.
5. Continuous Improvement
• Develop training programs on sustainability, ISO compliance, and relevant frameworks.
• Stay informed about regulatory changes, market trends, and best practices to maintain compliance and competitive advantage.
• Regularly report on certification progress and updates to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
Qualifications / Requirements
• 10+ years of experience in sustainability or environmental management, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
• Proven track record in managing ISO certification projects (especially ISO 14064, ISO 14067).
• Demonstrated ability to align policies with ISSB, GRI, or ResponsibleSteel standards.
• Industry experience in heavy manufacturing, particularly steel production, is strongly preferred.
• Must be able to reside and work in either Bangkok or Singapore
Education / Training
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Professional certifications in ISO standards (e.g., ISO 14064 Lead Verifier, ISO 14001 Auditor) are highly valued.
• Familiarity with ISSB, GRI, and ResponsibleSteel frameworks is a distinct advantage.
Language Proficiency
English: Fluent
Thai: Not required, but beneficial
