Description:

As a Director of Projects you will support projects that span multiple disciplines within our organization in order to deliver high quality and sustainable solutions to our clients. You will have the opportunity to expand your career by working on exciting, high-profile water, waste, and energy projects.

As a member of the Operations leadership team, the Director of Projects is responsible for providing strategic project leadership and oversight across the North American project portfolio, focusing on major engineering capital projects, as well as management, coaching and mentorship of a diverse Projects Team. This role holds the critical responsibility for supporting the development of execution plans, ensuring successful, collaborative project execution, developing an accountable, competent and focused Projects team, and assessing and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement in project delivery while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, budget, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
• Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, meeting or exceeding client expectations and creating opportunities for future project work.
• Rally multi-disciplinary project teams to achieve project milestones, minimizing and mitigating distractions and resolving unconstructive conflict with urgency.
• Develop and implement project management strategies that align with organizational goals and drive business growth.
• Assess and allocate resources effectively across projects, identifying and addressing any gaps to meet current and future demands.
• Build and maintain strong relationships, internally with technical and location leadership and externally with clients, acting as a primary point of contact to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for additional services.
• Collaborate with and support the Director of Consulting, ensuring seamless project execution and standards across the business.
• Support the development of scopes of work and project estimates for proposals.
• Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity and success.
• Coordination of capital and operational cost estimating.
• Monitor project budgets, control costs, and ensure financial objectives are met, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
• Work with internal stakeholders to identify and recommend systems improvements and collaborate on development and implementation of such improvements.
• Act as an advisor to the executive team regarding opportunities, risks and growth strategies.
• Become a strong brand ambassador, embodying the organizational values of having HEART: Hungry, Entrepreneurial, Accountable, Resourceful and Teamwork.

Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Project Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in project management leadership, with a proven track record in overseeing diverse teams and projects.
• Strong leadership skills, defined by accountability, action, collaboration and a focus on empowering teams towards collective success.
• Expertise in project planning, execution, and resource allocation.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulatory compliance, and safety practices.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Legally able to work in Canada.
• Must have demonstrated professional level written and verbal English communication skills.

• Strong project management skills, including client relationship management and project scope, budget, and schedule oversight.
• Flexibility and adaptability to manage change, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects with a high level of attention to detail.
• Experience in conflict management and resolution.
• Experience in change management.
• A proactive, solution-oriented approach to project execution and team management.
• Experience executing multi-disciplinary water treatment/wastewater treatment infrastructure projects an asset.
• Technical background in the planning, design, and construction of water and/or wastewater infrastructure an asset.
• Familiarity with project management software such as Oracle, Primavera, Microsoft Project, or 4castplus is an asset.
