Director of Operations – Industrial / Energy / Biomass

AGC Recruitment is seeking a Director of Operations for an industrial platform in Namibia. This hands-on leadership role requires managing multi-site operations, plant uptime, and logistics. Candidates should have over 10 years of experience in industrial operations, particularly in asset-heavy industries. The position is site-based in Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia, with relocation support available, and requires regular on-site presence.

AGC Mining Recruitment, specialists in Africa EPCM, mining, and industrial recruitment, are conducting a priority search for a senior Director of Operations on behalf of a well-funded, fast-scaling industrial platform operating in Namibia.

This is a hands-on, site-based leadership role for an experienced operations executive with a strong track record in multi-site industrial operations, plant uptime, and commissioning in emerging markets.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will take ownership of plant operations, biomass sourcing, logistics, and operational teams across a growing network of industrial production facilities. With commercially operating assets in place and a clear expansion roadmap, this role offers the opportunity to scale operations from current production to a large, distributed footprint across Southern Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day plant operations, uptime, throughput, and operating discipline across multiple sites
Oversee maintenance, reliability, and commissioning of new processing plants
Manage raw material sourcing, harvesting contractors, and logistics operations
Build, lead, and mentor a multi-site operations team, including site and plant managers
Drive production, yield, cost, and logistics KPIs
Ensure accurate operational data capture and reporting
Uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
Collaborate with finance, commercial, and senior leadership stakeholders

Candidate Profile

We are seeking senior operations leaders from asset-heavy, continuous-process industries, including:

Mining and mineral processing
Energy, power generation, or thermal operations
Metals, smelting, cement, or heavy industrial processing
Agriculture processing or biomass-related industries

You will ideally have:

10+ years’ experience in industrial operations leadership
Proven success managing multi-site or regional operations
Experience with continuous or thermochemical processes (e.g. furnaces, kilns, reactors, pyrolysis – advantageous)
Demonstrated career progression with increasing responsibility
Experience commissioning new plants or leading major expansions (strong advantage)
Strong leadership, operational problem-solving, and delivery focus
Comfort working in remote or emerging market environments

Location & Mobility

Role based in or near Otjiwarongo, Namibia, with regular on-site presence required
Open to Namibian nationals and international candidates
Work visa and relocation support available for suitable non-local applicants
