Overview:

Urban Farmer is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Director of Finance to oversee all accounting functions. This role will report directly to the CFO and be responsible for leading day-to-day accounting operations, supervising a team of staff members, and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial reporting. The Director of Finance will play a critical role in managing the month-end financial close, overseeing financial audits, and meeting regulatory reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and Develop Accounting Team:
Supervise, mentor, and train accounting staff to ensure accurate and efficient processing of financial transactions. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the team.
• Lead Financial Close Process:
Oversee and manage the monthly financial close process, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely. Prepare and review ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial statements to ensure completeness and compliance with GAAP.
• Manage Banking Operations:
Oversee the management of banking relationships and operations, ensuring alignment with company policies and effective handling of all banking activities.
• Ensure Compliance and Enhance Systems:
Implement and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Support system enhancements and testing to optimize efficiency and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee Asset Management:
Manage the review and recording of fixed assets and depreciation calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Liaise with Auditors and Manage Annual Audit Process:
Act as the primary contact for external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support to facilitate audits and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Conduct Meetings and Provide Financial Insights:
Conduct weekly accounting meetings to address ongoing projects and issues. Attend daily management meetings, providing financial insights and collaborating with other departments to support decision-making processes.
• Maintain Complete and Accurate Books and Records:
Ensure that all accounting records, including financial statements, regulatory reports, and audit documentation, are accurate and up-to-date, supporting transparency and compliance.
• Support Financial Reporting:
Oversee the preparation and submission of financial reports to banks and regulatory bodies, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant laws and standards.
• Additional Duties:
Perform other related duties as assigned by the CFO, including special projects, ad-hoc financial analysis, and tasks that contribute to the overall success of the finance and accounting department.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• 8-12 years of related professional experience required.
• Experience in the manufacturing industry is preferable.
• Previous experience as an Director of Finance is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics/Business Central or similar accounting software platform.
• Proven ability to manage, organize, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proactive problem-solving and critical-thinking skills are essential.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position works in an office and a manufacturing environment with variable temperature and loud noises from machinery and equipment alarms.
