Summary
The Director of Finance is a key leadership role at BoxPower, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company. This includes financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, risk management, and compliance. The Director of Finance will play a critical role in driving the company's financial strategy and supporting its continued growth. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of success in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Experience in the renewable energy sector is a plus.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Financial Planning & Analysis:
• Develop and manage the company's annual budget and long-term financial plan.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Prepare and present financial reports to the CO and Board of Directors.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance.
• Conduct financial forecasting and modeling to assess potential risks and opportunities.
• Accounting & Reporting:
• Oversee all accounting operations, including controller, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
• Manage the annual audit process.
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulations (GAAP).
• Treasury Management:
• Manage the company's cash flow and working capital.
• Develop and implement cash management strategies.
• Manage banking relationships, lender relationships and lines of credit.
• Risk Management:
• Identify and assess financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Oversee the company's insurance programs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Corporate Development
• Evaluate new markets to support go to market and business strategy decisions
• Develop customer economic value proposition models to understand customer decision making process
• Lead advancement of ERP and critical software systems to support more efficient financial and projects reporting.
• Project Finance
• Develop and execute project financing strategies for solar + storage projects.
• Structure and negotiate financing agreements with lenders, investors, and other financial partners.
• Prepare financial models and pro forma analyses for project evaluation.
• Manage the due diligence process for project financing.
• Secure tax equity, debt financing, and other funding sources for projects.
• Monitor project financial performance and ensure compliance with financing agreements.
• Experience with various project finance structures (e.g., tax equity, debt, PPA).
• Understanding of renewable energy incentives and tax credits (e.g., ITC, PTC).
• Other Duties:
• Participate in strategic planning initiatives and BoxPower Leadership.
• Collaborate with other departments to achieve company growth goals.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, or related
• Strong financial planning and analysis skills.
• Deep understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
• Experience with treasury management and risk management.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Experience with financial software and ERP systems.
• Experience in the renewable energy industry is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
