Enemix is seeking a Director of Energy and Carbon in Sydney, Australia, to lead research and analysis in the renewable energy sector. The role involves identifying business opportunities, fostering stakeholder relationships, and overseeing projects in the energy market. Enemix has partnered with one of Australia’s leading energy and carbon consultancies, who are going from strength to strength. This consultancy are expanding their Energy and Carbon leadership team to further expand into the brokerage and commercial advisory markets in Australia. They are seeking someone passionate about the renewables and decarbonisation market who is looking to leave their mark on the industry.

The Role

As a Director of Energy and Carbon, you will bring your Energy and Carbon sector expertise to lead innovative, industry-standard research and analysis, supporting customers and the broader renewable energy market. You will play an integral role in identifying new business opportunities, establishing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, promoting our business advisory programs, and expanding our the company network. You will collaborate with internal research, financial, regulatory, auditing and operating teams to provide a comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach to Market Modelling and origination. This role is integral to the client’s overall growth strategy to monitor market trends, expand client network and strengthen their market position.

Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the design and modelling of energy contract and hedging structures.
• Identify customer opportunities and lead the pricing, structuring and negotiation of offtake agreements, primarily Power Purchase Agreements.
• Establish new and foster existing relationships with external key stakeholders, promoting business advisory services.
• Monitor market trends, expand client network and strengthen market position.
• Supporting team operations and assist in training new hires, helping to establish office culture and grow team.
• Oversee Delivery for Australian Clients across all Electricity and Energy Market projects. Client Types range from Developers, Retailers, Gentailers and OEMs.
• Design, Develop and manage electricity spot projections based on data from potential supply-demand scenarios, developing and utilising simulations using Plexos and Python.
• Maintain high quality of deliverables the consultancy is known for.
• Providing insight to Australian energy and carbon markets, investment opportunities and role in developing natural capital.
• Formulate and implement approaches to the management of energy marker risks for externa stakeholders and customers.
• Stay informed about the latest Energy market and policy news, communicating this within the company and to the broader industry.

Qualifications
• 10 + years of relevant experience and exposure preferably in decarbonisation, climate resilience, carbon markets, renewable energy, hydrogen, energy policy and energy transition strategies.
• Deep understanding of the electricity system and power trading.
• Experience working on complex PPAs and Procurement within the renewable energy market.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to discover, explore, visualize, and communicate trends and patterns in numerical data to provide value to our users.
• Ability to manage and lead a team of modellers, overseeing strategies, drive decision making and effectively liaise with the multi-disciplinary team and external stakeholders.
• Bachelor or master’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, economics or a related technical field.
• Demonstrable experience modelling and structuring options to finance the transition of the energy sector, carbon markets and industry more broadly.
