Job Description

Solar Energy World is seeking a Director of Construction for Residential Solar in Laurel, MD. The role requires over 5 years of leadership experience in residential solar installation. Responsibilities include mentoring Regional Operations Managers, optimizing performance metrics, ensuring quality installations, and fostering a safety culture. The position involves collaboration with various departments and managing budgets while providing strategic recommendations to executive leadership. This is a full-time role with a salary of $150K–$180K.

This job oversees the installation process. It coaches, inspires, motivates, guides, and develops our Regional Operations Managers. Provides leadership and direction for multiple functional areas. Manages professionals at manager, supervisor and professional levels. Ensures appropriate resources to achieve financial and business objectives. Influences, shapes, and integrates strategy for functional area(s).

Core Responsibilities
• Lead, mentor, and coach Regional Operations Managers to deliver outstanding field performance
• Recruit, train, and retain high-performing field leadership talent.
• Foster a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Own performance metrics across safety, quality, customer experience (CX), schedule adherence, and productivity.
• Optimize regional schedules to maximize density and minimize drive time and inefficiencies.
• Identify and implement process improvements to drive consistency, scalability, and excellence across field operations.
• Ensure all installations meet or exceed quality standards and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
• Partner with internal departments (Sales, Design, Permitting, Inspection, etc.) to streamline workflows and remove operational friction.
• Resolve escalated issues quickly and effectively with a customer-first mindset.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture aligned with OSHA standards and company policies.
• Ensure crews adhere to all building codes, utility requirements, and AHJ regulations.
• Analyze operational data and key performance indicators to identify trends and opportunities.
• Establish and manage budgets, labor utilization, and cost efficiency.
• Provide regular performance updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
