Job Description
Wanzek Construction is seeking a Director of Business Development in Renewable Energy, responsible for building and managing relationships in various sectors including Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy. The role is remote, requiring over 50% travel nationwide. Candidates should have a relevant degree and substantial experience in business development, preferably in renewable energy. The position emphasizes safety, collaboration, and strategic growth within the company.
Overview: Responsible for developing new business contacts and managing existing customer relationships in the Oil & Gas, Power, Solar, Wind Energy, Industrial Agriculture, and Heavy Civil sectors.
Location and Travel: This is a remote position that supports our business across the United States and requires more than 50% travel nationwide.

Responsibilities:
• Identify, develop, and lead sales opportunities through industry research, calls, site visits, and trade shows.
• Gain in-depth knowledge and experience with decision makers in target markets.
• Establish and maintain a network of relationships.
• Collaborate closely with executives and operations on business leads.
• Assist in establishing company budget and sales goals.
• Pre-qualify MasTec Renewables for project opportunities.
• Monitor industry trends and competitive activity to refine strategy.
• Prepare proposals and respond to RFPs.
• Update company Pipeline, Backlog, and Project statuses accurately within Salesforce.
• Understand client goals and communicate accordingly to the estimating team.
• Set sales goals to enhance market share and profitability.
• Manage and implement Business Development plans for growth.
• Analyze market data and consumer information.
• Track sales results to ensure objectives are met within budgets.
• Regularly travel to client locations.
Qualifications:
Director:
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience, with a preference for 3+ years in Business Development or Operations.
• Previous Renewable Energy experience is required.
Senior Director:
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 12-14+ years of experience, with a preference for 5+ years in Business Development or Operations.
• 5+ years of Renewable Energy experience is required.
Skills and Abilities:
• Commitment to health and safety in line with MasTec's Zero Injury principles.
• Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated and capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Maintain a positive attitude when collaborating with team members and customers.
• Analyze and interpret technical documents, financial reports, and legal material.
• Address inquiries and complaints from customers and stakeholders.
• Present information effectively to management and public groups.
• Adapt to various scenarios and solve practical problems.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to convert strategic visions into operational plans.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
• Jobsite visits may expose you to hazards requiring adherence to safety precautions.
• Moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures and loud noises may occur.
