Director, Energy Storage

Brookfield Asset Management is seeking a Director of Energy Storage & Grid Technology in London. This role involves providing technical leadership for energy storage deployment, assessing BESS technologies, and supporting investment opportunities. Job Title: Director, Energy Storage & Grid Technology

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Technical Services, this role is responsible for providing technical leadership to the business and advising on the further deployment of energy storage as one of the technology drivers to support the growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assess various BESS technologies for technical performance, safety and useful life
• Track emerging technology associated with BESS and provide insights on future evolution and commercial possibilities
• Conduct comparative analyses of various technologies and equipment suppliers available for the deployment of BESS
• Share best practices across the business on design and delivery of BESS facilities
• Support layout, configuration and equipment selection for BESS projects
• Work with Investment team to assess opportunities to invest in energy storage facilities and technology providers
• Provide technical support on power system studies, grid specifications and other grid-related challenges/opportunities
• Maintain strong networks with industry representatives and stakeholders around BESS

Requirements:
• In-depth technical competency and track record with energy projects;
• Proven technical competency in electrical engineering and experience with design and construction of electrical apparatus and energy facilities;
• Knowledge of leading key equipment suppliers of BESS systems;
• Broad knowledge of components impacting BESS design and integration;
• Experience in conducting due diligence of energy projects and technologies;
• Strong influencing skills and ability to present points of view effectively;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong team approach and ability to work with different teams.
