Job Description

Bennett Jones is hiring a Desktop Technician for their Edmonton office. The role involves providing hardware/software support, maintaining printers, assisting with user accounts, resolving technical issues, and supporting software/hardware rollouts. Candidates should have at least 3 years of technical support experience, knowledge of Microsoft products, and strong communication skills. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

We are currently recruiting for the following role in our Edmonton office:

Desktop Technician Essential Functions
• Provide hardware / software support to users on issues escalated by Help Desk
• Install and maintain printers within the environment. This includes testing new printer drivers under different operating systems and making recommendations accordingly
• Assist with user account creation and maintenance of group memberships for the firm
• Working with vendor support to resolve technical issues at a high level
• Update ticketing software for the purpose of tracking outstanding work and reporting
• Update Bennett Jones Desktop Support group on status of any outstanding issues
• Assist with any software/hardware rollouts to the firm
• Assist with moves within the office as they relate to desktop or telephone relocations
• Assist with the setup and support of Audio / Visual equipment (Projectors, Conference Phones and Video Conferencing Systems)
• Work with Help Desk and Applications staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from users
• Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with all systems including file servers, messaging servers, application servers, and administrative systems
• Work with Desktop Architects to ensure that desktop / laptops drivers are tested and updated accordingly
• Inventory of all desktops and printers
• Create / update procedural documentation as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of Technical Support experience.
• College Diploma or University Degree in information technology or related work experience
• Knowledge of desktop productivity software, including PDF tools, document management systems; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel) assets.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to quickly learn new applications and technologies.
• Advanced Desktop troubleshooting skills within the Microsoft Windows Environment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
• Knowledge of Network, Desktop Technologies, and Computer Imaging.
• Proficient with common software features, configuration, and installation.
• Focus on providing excellence in client service within and outside of the department.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to changing priorities.
• Organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
• Flexible, open-minded, and collaborative when working with colleagues and Firm personnel; positive attitude.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Previous experience in a legal environment would be considered an asset.
