Take your career to the next level! AECI is looking for a Day Ahead Energy Trader to optimize energy resources, transact in power and gas markets, and support real-time operations. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a keen eye for market strategy, and want to make a direct impact on energy reliability—this role is for you!
What you'll do:
• Manage Day Ahead load forecasting and generation schedules.
• Optimizing power and gas purchases and sales through bilateral transactions, exchanges, and RTO markets for next day through balance of the month.
• Oversee and maximize the value of an extensive transmission portfolio.
• Support Real Time marketers with position management strategy, resource dispatch, and fuel considerations.
• Conduct market analysis to capitalize on opportunities in power and natural gas markets.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including NERC, FERC, and SERC standards.
• Communicate energy marketing strategies clearly to leadership and external stakeholders.
What you’ll need:
• A technical degree (engineering, economics, finance, etc.) or 5+ years of experience in wholesale power and/or gas markets.
• Strong quantitative and economic evaluation skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with counterparties and team members.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word; Power BI is a bonus.
• Familiarity with ETRM or trade capture systems a plus.
• Knowledge of RTO dynamics, including ARRs, FTRs, virtual transactions, and hedging strategies.
