Description

About the NASA Postdoctoral Program

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.

Description:

The post-doctoral fellow will apply machine learning and/or other data science techniques to conduct scientific research, improve remote sensing data products and analysis, integrate machine learning with physics-based models, and/or improve processing of remotely-sensed Earth Science data. The fellow will be a part of the NASA Earth eXchange (NEX). Current NEX activities include exploiting global geostationary operational satellites for Earth science research and applications, synthesizing low-earth orbiting and geostationary satellite remote sensing for research and applications, modeling terrestrial and marine/aquatic systems, climate downscaling and resilience, and developing open science tools and software for science data processing. Candidates are not limited to proposals that align with these activities and are encouraged to contact the NEX team to discuss fellowship research topics.
