Job Description
Northwind Solar is seeking a Customer Service & Marketing Assistant in Amherst, WI. The role involves managing customer inquiries, assisting with email marketing, and supporting sales and marketing efforts. Responsibilities include answering phone calls, providing information on solar products, entering data into the CRM, and collaborating with vendors. Position Summary
The Customer Service & Marketing Assistant (CSMA) will work closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing to ensure that phone and web inquiries are handled efficiently and effectively, by providing excellent communication and accurate information or by redirecting inquiries appropriately. By ensuring that Sales and Service inquiries enter the CRM platform and specific pipelines appropriately, the CSMA directly impacts our ability to provide excellent customer service. The CSMA will also assist with email marketing campaign facilitation, 3rd party marketing vendor management, marketing and sales reporting, and brand and reputation management tasks.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Customer Service
• Answer phones, greet in-person guests, and respond to voicemail or web inquiries regarding our solar-related products and services
• Provide thoughtful and accurate answers and information to potential customers by learning about our products and services, following basic scripts and FAQ documents, and handing-off to other relevant staff when appropriate
• Provide warm, welcoming guest service to walk-in customers, visitors, vendors and more
• Participate in on-site sales and promotional events, engaging with community members who are interested in learning more about solar and Northwind specifically
• Provide entry level information to Sales and Service customers. Answer basic questions about solar PV systems, site characteristics, pricing, and system troubleshooting
Lead Qualification & Sales Support
• Asking appropriate questions of sales or service inquirers and setting appropriate expectations about Northwind’s Sales and Service processes
• Entering customer data into our CRM accurately and efficiently to ensure that Sales or Service teammates have access to relevant information and can follow-up further in a timely manner
• Moving Sales or Service inquiries further into the appropriate pipeline for better teammate management
• Assist Sales Manager with monitoring pipeline data and aggregating for team and management reporting
Marketing and Promotion Support
• Assist the Sales Manager with overseeing a variety of marketing efforts and related vendors
• Leverage the HubSpot CRM to effectively facilitate email marketing campaigns that increase opportunities for repeat sales or to re-engage previous inquiries
• Monitor the promotional efforts of 3rd party marketing vendors who manage digital search and display ads and make recommendations for updates and fresh content
• Support social media marketing efforts by engaging other staff in content contributions and by managing posts
• Assist the Sales Manager with aggregating marketing data for quarterly reporting
• Support brand management efforts by ensuring external communications collateral and branded content follows brand guidelines
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Education Requirements: High school or equivalent
Preferred Education: Associates degree or higher in marketing, communications, business management or related degree
Minimum Work Experience: 1+ years of customer facing work in sales, customer service, or marketing
Preferred Work Experience: 2+ years of customer facing work in sales, customer service, or marketing
Knowledge and Skills That Lead to Success
• Excellent Customer Service skills - Friendly, attentive, respectful, helpful, honest
• Excellent attention to detail - in communications, data entry, brand management and more
• Technical aptitude - the ability to learn about and retain somewhat complex information related to advanced electrical technology
• Familiarity with professional office software & apps, including Microsoft and Google suites
• Team mentality - providing enthusiastic support to Sales, Service, Administrative and Operational teams
• Professional communication - ensuring that internal and external phone calls, emails, or texts are executed in a professional tone and manner
• Familiarity with basic Marketing principles and being able to think strategically about markets, audiences, and messaging
• Familiarity with using a CRM for customer data management and email marketing
Physical Demands / Work Environment
• While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to stand, kneel, bend, walk, climb, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee may be asked to lift/move materials of 40 pounds, occasionally overhead, unassisted.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
