American Conservation Experience is hiring two Crew Members for a 16-week internship at Rocky Mountain National Park, focusing on native seed collection and ecological restoration. ACE is seeking two Crew Members to support native seed collection in Rocky Mountain National Park. This is a 16-week field internship ideal for individuals interested in botany, ecology, and restoration. Members will gain hands-on training, participate in ecological restoration, and receive a federal hiring authority eligibility upon completion.

Description

As part of the Seeds of Success program, members will work alongside National Park Service staff to identify native plants, collect seed for restoration, and conduct field data collection. This position offers professional development opportunities and exposure to land management agencies. Due to the rugged nature of the terrain and remote work locations, camping several nights a week is required. Training in seed collection protocols and plant ID will be provided.

Responsibilities
• Conduct native seed collection in backcountry and frontcountry areas
• Plan daily schedules and coordinate field logistics
• Perform data entry and quality control on seed collection records
• Participate in restoration planting and seed curation
• Hike and camp in the backcountry while transporting gear and equipment
• Assist with volunteer coordination during collection efforts
• Follow Seeds of Success protocols for scientific accuracy

Minimum Requirements
• U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Able to hike, carry gear, and work in extreme weather
• Comfortable camping outdoors multiple nights per week
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to undergo a background check
• Completion of required ACE paperwork and evaluations

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (or in progress) in botany, biology, ecology, or related field
• Experience with plant ID or using tools like Survey123, Field Maps
• Interest in native plant restoration and habitat management
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
• Prior outdoor experience including hiking, camping, and fieldwork

Additional Notes
• $336 weekly housing stipend and $350 gear stipend provided
• Federal Public Land Corps hiring authority eligibility upon term completion
• Required to supply personal housing near Boulder/Loveland/Fort Collins area
• Camping and rugged terrain experience recommended
• This project is contingent on funding confirmation
