The role focuses on promoting safety, supporting product sustainability initiatives, ensuring quality for the GreenArrow™ product portfolio, and providing operational and technical support. As a Corporate Sustainability Engineer your responsibilities will be:

Safety
• Promote safety culture within the plant as a representative of the sustainability team
• Actively engage in safety procedures, protocols, initiatives, and training requirements

Product Sustainability Initiatives
• Support Product Sustainability initiatives as directed - GreenArrow™ product platform development/optimization, climate strategy, corporate social responsibility, and education
• Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for portions of the GreenArrow™ product platform as directed
• Support and lead the successful completion of specific sustainability audits, certifications, and assessments (as identified)
• Represent CNG as a key contact for specific industry associations (as identified)

Quality Support – GreenArrow™ Product Portfolio
• Ensure GreenArrow™ item master accuracy specific to sales order requirements, QC checks and customer expectations
• Confirm and conduct GreenArrow™ production and sample quality reviews and checks
• Support GreenArrow™ Kaizen, A3’s, complaint reviews and data discovery
• Support various sustainability, quality, and product safety audits (as identified or needed)

Operational Support – GreenArrow™ Product Portfolio
• Drive to improve specific operational KPI’s related to GreenArrow™ films
• Support and/or lead GreenArrow™ sample runs at the production line with assistance from appropriate technical personnel
• Identify, vet out, and support new sustainable raw material investigation and implementation/substitution efforts
• Develop specific troubleshooting strategies to positively impact GreenArrow™ products and processes

Technical and Customer Support – GreenArrow™ Product Portfolio
• Lead GreenArrow™ Product Life Cycle Support: lab testing, data analysis, product recommendation with support, quote, ERP item set up, sample support
• Understand current resin usage, resin back-up status, identify potential gaps and make recommendations for improvement
• Understand the GreenArrow™ film grades manufactured at all CNG plants, including resin usage, equipment – identify and understand the differences and technical reason(s) for those differences
• Participate in weekly and monthly technical team calls

Cost Avoidance Initiatives – GreenArrow™ Product Portfolio
• Identify and engage in GreenArrow™ specific cost avoidance projects and initiatives as directed
• Support corporate and plant-specific scrap initiatives

A strong Corporate Sustainability Engineer will possess:
• BS in Engineering: Chemical, Packaging, Plastics, Sustainability or Industrial with an emphasis on Plastics/Polymers and/or Sustainability. BS in Chemistry or Polymer Science with appropriate emphasis may also qualify. Equivalent work experience with a specialization in Sustainability, Engineering, Plastics, Polymer or applicable Research and Development will also be considered.
• A minimum of 3 years applicable external job experience in a similar role
• Demonstrated skills in organization, attention to details, setting priorities and sound decision making
• Strong work and personal ethics
• Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated the ability to manage & prioritize multiple projects/tasks in order minimize response time
• Demonstrated continuous professional attitude with all levels of internal and external personnel

Safety at CNG:
• Ensure that safety and health concerns are given primary consideration in all activities
• Follows company guidelines and actively participates in all safety processes
• Carry out job/area specific housekeeping duties and maintain a high standard of professionalism
• Look for, report, and correct any near misses/unsafe conditions or behaviors as soon as possible
• Identify needed changes and make recommendations - find a better way
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues, requesting supervisor assistance when needed (use as needed)

The team member may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Must be able to routinely climb stairs and work safely around numerous hot surfaces and rotating equipment.
• Team members are also required to frequently talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include; color vision acuity, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Team members in this role are exposed to seasonal temperature/humidity changes that can be near 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
